Nursery Irrigation Project Overview

AJ Irrigation recently completed a commercial irrigation system installation for a growing nursery that required additional space to expand operations and increase shrub storage capacity. The project focused on creating more usable storage space while maintaining a highly efficient, low-maintenance automatic irrigation system across the existing landscape.

Covering approximately 1,850 square metres, the site consisted of 12 planting beds, each measuring around 148 square metres. Due to the exposed location and frequent windy conditions, the irrigation design needed to deliver reliable coverage while maximising water efficiency and minimising waste.

Following a detailed site survey, AJ Irrigation designed and installed a fully automated commercial sprinkler system using advanced decoder technology.

• 12 irrigation beds

• 148m² per bed

• 8 pop-up sprinklers per bed

• 96 pop-up sprinklers installed

• Decoder-based irrigation control system

Although the selected pop-up sprinklers are capable of a 10-metre throw, this distance has been utilised within the design to ensure adequate coverage of the planting areas in the site's exposed and windy conditions.

Using the full 10-metre radius allows all planted areas to receive sufficient irrigation while maintaining effective overlap between sprinklers. This approach helps achieve consistent water distribution across the landscape and ensures that plants remain adequately watered despite the challenges presented by wind.
